Gila Bend’s 8th annual Desert Shrimp Fest will be November 6 and 7, 2010. Two days of fun! Vendor packets will be going out this week.  Next Shrimp Fest organizational meeting is Wednesday, August 11 at 6 pm at the Space Age Restaurant.

What a fun weekend. Thanks to all the vendors, volunteer workers and attendees. Hope to see you all next year!

COUNTDOWN: 1 DAY!

Tomorrow is the big event, the 7th annual Desert Shrimp Fest. Community Center Park, one block north of Highway 85, turn at Euclid Avenue. Park opens at 10 am on Saturday and Sunday. There will be shrimp and other food booths, merchandise booths, contests, a carnival, live bands, and Gila Bend High School all-classes reunion. You don’t want to miss it.

The park is beginning to look like a festival grounds. The tents are up, the carnival is in. Only 2 days until the 7th annual Desert Shrimp Fest. Gates open at 10 am Saturday morning.

Anyone from the Chamber of Commerce panicing yet? Gila Bend’s Desert Shrimp Fest is planned and worked by all volunteers.  We try to improve on each year’s fest.

All Gila Bend High School graduates, teachers, former teachers and students are invited to the GBHS All-Classes Reunion at the 7th annual Desert Shrimp Fest. Sign up at the reunion booth. Tour of the school at 2 pm.

 

Only 6 days until the Desert Shrimp Fest in Gila Bend, Arizona. Cooks at Shrimp Alley will be serving up Shrimp Scampi, Shrimp Tacos, Coconut Shrimp, Battered Shrimp and Mexican Shrimp Cocktail.  The shrimp is grown in enviromentally friendly ponds in Gila Bend with no mercury, iodine or preservatives.  You will be able to purchase frozen shrimp to take home from the Desert Sweet Shrimp booth.

One week until the 7th annual Desert Shrimp Fest! Carnival, Live bands, shrimp eating contests, kids’ coloring contest and lots more. Get ready for some locally grown shrimp in our shrimp tacos, shrimp scampi and coconut shrimp. Other food booths available for the non-shrimp eaters.

COUNTDOWN: 8 DAYS

We’ve had a lot of inquiries about our Shrimp Eating Contest. You can sign up at the event, Saturday or Sunday. It’s how many you can eat (and swallow) in two minutes. You can eat the shells or peel them but you need to save the tails. We will have a contest about very 90 minutes. See the contestants in the photo above.
